But I notice the Lyre in the front bears a suspicious resemblance to your avatar....

I remember this movie. I watched it on the late show when I was a kid, sick from a root beer floathttp://home-and-garden.webshots.com/pho ... 1998eanNwbbob27556 wrote:No. It was one of those classic 1950's 'B' movies with some guy walking around in a rubber tree terrorizing people. If I remember correctly he was tied or staked to a tree and became a part of it.I cannot say that I have, although searching IMDb for it returned the 1964 film ‘Darna at ang Babaing Tuod (Darna and the Tree Monster)’. Is this the movie you mean?
I just did a google search on it and couldn't find a thing. I really hope I haven't imagined this!

THAT'S IT! Thanks WJW! A pretty cheesy film but for the 1960's it was pretty much state of the art. I remember the kid up the street had nightmares about it. Funny thing is that you never know how something like that will affect a person. Yesterday at work I noticed a Mr. Magoo doll sitting on top of a cabinet in someone's cubicle. At least I think it was Magoo because it was pretty horrific looking. I actually had a dream about it last night and I'm 52 years old! Do I need treatment?FROM HELL IT CAME! TOBONGA 1

It could have been made for Bilbo Baggins, it has that Hobbit look!

The auction house claims it dates to 1910. I wonder. The horn more resembles the style of a Western Electric horn speaker from 1921. I also wonder about the style of the curved tonearm, I think it resembles something out of a later portable.

Bizarre though it may be, I kind of like it too. Somebody went to an enormous amount of work to produce it. Maybe a bit over-the-top, but it does have a bit of an Art Nouveau organic flare to it.
