Does anyone here collect "misc" Thomas A. Edison advertising items, misc stuff, etc? I have collected these "things" mainly here in New Jersey. Besides the usual bronze and silver medals (I have 52 different Edison types) I have a framed Thomas A. Edison Industries Old Timers Club membership card and beautiful but very small brass and blue enameled pinback issued to a John Kuebler in 1942, membership #141.... Three Edison Storage Battery items: A red appointment book with several entries written in it, a copper ash tray, and a brass handle nail file or letter opener. Notice the unusual brass medal from a Salaam Temple in Newark New Jersey, 1947 - it has the bust of T.A.Edison on the other side. I have three of these from three different temples. I wonder why the Temples used the bust of Edison? I find collecting these "trinkets" just as interesting as collecting Edison phonographs.....

I love the Edison ephemera items. I don't think you are the only one interested in such things. Your "Edison Industries Old Timers Club" membership card is a perfect example. You can't help but wonder why it survived. I'll try to post some photos of things I enjoy. Jerry Blais

Here is another small grouping of some of my many Thomas A. Edison medals. One is from Ft. Meyers Florida, one from the A.A.O.N.M.S. Crescent Temple in Trenton New Jersey, and one other is the very common 1929 "Lights Golden Jubilee" at Dearborn. (remember the 1929 replica light bulbs - same event) But my favorite medals are from the "Electrical Exposition Motor Show" at the New Grand Central Palace New York. They are all the same except for the dates which I have 1913, 1914, 1915 , and 1916. I'm not sure if there are any other dates minted of this motor show medal. They all have the bust of Edison on the obverse boldly engraved Thomas Alva Edison. (his middle name spelled out)I have always wondered if Edison actually attended these expositions since there are quite a few of these bronze medals with various dates, all with the bust of Mr. Edison on the obverse as I stated.......

    I have enjoyed this thread and wanted to share some of my Edison collectables. I have a couple of display cases with small items and didn't realize, until now, how Victor items dominate the cases. It's not that I emphasized Victor or Nipper items. It's just that they are so much more available. I guess it gives some clue to the power of Victor advertising and promotions. Here are some nice Edison items. Jerry Blais

    This is one of my most favorite pieces in my "smalls" collection. It's a convention pin worn by a Orange, New Jersey Elks member at the 1906 Elks convention in Denver. The lower portion is an Edison cylinder with a likeness of Edison and his signature. The title end of the cylinder reads "Here's To Our Absent Brothers".

    That is some really nice things. i have 2 Edison irons,, storage batteries, mimeograph and things like that.

    Good stuff Jerry. There are also political blue "E" pinbacks when Charles Edison was running for New Jersey Gov. And I forgot about all the different models of Edison patent (A.B. Dick) Mimeographs including the rotory model. I don't consider these "smalls" that fit into a display case but they are a big part of T.A. Edison's inventing history, as is his electric pen and typewriter.
