Re: Just some cool phonographs
I would dearly love to find one of those Swiss/Germany models shaped like a house.
I have a small collection of "little" music boxes, and 3 of them are house shaped too. The oldest of the 3 belonged to my Great-Aunt, and she bought it in Switzerland in the early-mid 30's, and I reckon they'd look way cool next to one of those gramophones.
While the music boxes are really very common, the gramophone version seems to rarely turn up. I suppose they were just a bit too big for the tourist trade to carry home, and no doubt a large percentage of the few that did get taken abroad, probably got gutted later in life and turned into a dolls house for some little girls room.

My favorite is the chair - but for the life of me I don't understand the concept? One thing is for certain, the talking machines over the pond are very unusual and I grab them when I can. Especially the French Pathé machines. BUT shipping and customs will kill you $$$$$$$

That chair is practically identical to those that contained chamber pots. Maybe this one was meant to play crappy music.briankeith wrote:My favorite is the chair - but for the life of me I don't understand the concept?
