New to the Forum, and New to an Edison Home Mod D

Well with the help and advise from several of you, I am moving into the reassembly stages of this Home D.
I sand blasted and painted the main deck and it has come out looking pretty good.

I ordered parts from Wyatt's and started applying the decals last night - so far so good but boy they make you tense up trying to get them just right, haha!

Now how do you make the curved lines? The decal sheet only came with straight lines. Are you supposed to bend the straight line decals?

I have used kroil to get the screws out, it is a good penitrent but freezing or heating works wonders too.

Here's a pic from last night. I just set the name plate on top where it supposed to go.
I still have those curves to do, and still not sure how to do them since the decal sheet only has straight lines.

I re-did my Edison fireside but paid a pin-striper (body shop person / a nice woman) to actually hand stripe the re-done bedplate using gold paint brushed on rather than using the decal method. It cost alot of $$$$ but I think it was worth it in the long run. You have to find a good striper with a very steady hand that works on custom cars, trucks or Harley Davidson motorcycles, etc.

Replacing the gear shaft and gear can be a little pricy. I had a similar problem but I was missing the large gear. I ended up buying a complete gear cluster for about the same money as the individual gear. Check with the shops listed under "links/repairs" on the forum. I am sure that you will find your part.

I did look into doing pin strip, BUT too costly around here. Lowest etimate was $125. And if we have a slow spell to do it. Most likely would sit on their shelf for months.
I know how you feel I use to be a stickler for perfect or nothing, boy how 73 years have softened me.
Purchased the Decal sets and have the Bed looking like Factory all polished out pretty.
Next guy can always undo my deed.

I am thinking of selling this B VI to purchase another RARE Model I have been drooling over.

The Gregg Cline decal sets are the way to go. I believe he makes suggestions for the order of application. Jerry

Well its been quite a while since I started this thread. Would you believe I've been trying to aquire an affordable reproducer during all this time. Well I finally got one, which needs work in itself, and so I've started reassembling this old barn-found Model D.

Got it all back together and I was winding the main spring when suddenly there was a loud bang, but thankfully nothing flew apart. Now the spring won't tighten, so apparently the main spring is broken, right?
