OK all you guys out there that own a "Flat Top" Pooley, I need to know if all models came with a slotted winding crank or if some toward the end of their production, possibly came with a threaded crank. Mine has a slotted shaft, but the crank I have is a replacement. Swapping the winding shaft is an easy thing to do and I have a correct threaded crank to use. Jerry, I know you have one, so maybe you have done this research already. Any help greatly appreciated!
Regards, Wes

Re: FLAT TOP POOLEY VTLA QUESTION
I have owned two flat top VTLA's and both had a slotted crank. I have seen them with the Vic D style motor and the Vic V style motor. I wish I could be of more help. Jerry B.

Re: FLAT TOP POOLEY VTLA QUESTION
This is the crank from my flat top. As you can see, the slotted end has been repaired. I can not tell if it started as a threaded crank that was modified for a slotted shaft. This crank is the same length as the threaded crank in my XX. The photo with the crank in the machine shows it is close to the cabinet but easily clears. The photo also shows some cabinet damage from a bent crank being used or possibly a crank used without the escutcheon. I can't tell if my crank was bent and straightened. I hope this is some help. Re: FLAT TOP POOLEY VTLA QUESTION
Thanks Jerry, The photos were very helpful. I had a threaded crank from an early XVI 1912 that was damaged and after seeing your photos, I drilled it and cut it to fit the pin in the shaft. Seeing that yours was close also made me feel a bit better about going ahead and altering a crank to fit. It turned out great. Not positioned as close as yours and looks correct and functions fine. Thanks for your help!
