Found this Toman No. 1 sound box with a metal diaphragm, apparently made in Chicago. Is there any info available about this? Date of manufacture, date used, which machines used this, how the heck do you open it, etc?
Thanks! CDB

I think this is, like the Orthophonic reproducer, held together with a threaded ring- there are little lugs around the edge of the backside where a tool would have fit. Problem is, this may have hidden cracks that will open up if you disturb anything.
There were Orthophonic clones & were made from the 20's onward.
