Edison Gem model B project machine

Hi, guys. I haven't even received it yet, but, I am so anxious, I wanted to start a restoration thread early.
I just purchased a Gem model B in kind of rough shape, but, restorable.
It needs alot of parts, but, looks basically restorable.
I'm pretty excited to start on this one.
After I receive it, and, start, I'll take photos so you may see the progress of the restoration on it.
I intend to eventually put a Gem hnorn, and, crane on it, and, maybe some day convert it to combination as well.

Well, I haven't been able to break loose rusted on parts. I'm definately sending it to a friend next month to get it apart for me, then, I'll start restoration.
I'll get back on this as soon as I can.
I don't have the fascilities for this much rust.

I have had great luck with a product called Evaoporust. It removes rust but does not harm plate or paint. You could drop the whole thing in a pail of it and in a day or so it will be rust free.

Sounds like phosphoric acid is the active ingredient. Great stuff.

Haven't gotten anywhere on machine. One gentleman called me a couple of weeks back to say he was going to Orlando, and, was picking up parts for me for machine. I haven't heard from him since the show, so????????
Looks like this will be a long project.
I found one source for some of the parts, but, he's very expensive, and, not sure what to do.......
In the meantime, it's back in the box. I can't get motor apart, and, it's rusted in place.
Carriage is stll rusted to the rod.
Penetrating oil certainly didn't help on anything.
