O/T "Monster Blizzard in the Northeastern US

I hope those of you affected by this are prepared with adequate stocks of food, drink, candles, kerosene and plenty of steel needles*. Updates invited if you have electricity.

Only 5" in northwest New Jersey. Should be easy to dig out, then out for some Cross Country skiing .

Seems like the worst of it was east and north of New York City.

Here in England's West Country, the problem is flooding. Happily my village has been spared, but a main road through the Somerset levels has already been closed and re-opened three times so far this Winter.

The picture was taken four years ago almost to the day. The area of water is supposed to be a field, not a lake!

This year is so much worse that the old Morris will not be venturing out until things improve.

I hope you all weather the storm unharmed.

Well, I have been up for an hour and I am pondering where to start with the snow blower here in Connecticut.We probably have a legitimate 24+" snowfall. It was windy all night, and there are drifts easily 3.5 to four feet around my house. I took a picture yesterday AM at the start of the storm, and I am posting one from this AM. Apologies for the different angles but the van is in both of them. Scale is hard to gauge in these pictures but the bumper of my van, which is visible at the end of the house is at least 18". The foreground shrub in this mornings image, is on a 3 foot wall which is obliterated under the snow. Oh and it might rain on Monday - which is really frightening!

No working on phonos this weekend.

I moved out of Long Island, New York 10 years ago....and left my snow shovel there!

Here in central Mass. it snowed for about 24 hours. I shoveled 10 inches outside my door Friday night and by morning another 12 inches had come.

Don't ask me how long it's going to take me to shovel my car out...

Yep, that was snow.

Luckily, outside of a few brief blackouts Friday night, I didn't lose power. Managed to dig the car out Saturday afternoon...

Ripduf1: Hope you have a BIG snow blower! Here in mid-Michigan we got around 5". No big deal except for the end of the driveway after the plow came by.

WE got close to 34" in here if you only have 5" Ill be glad to truck some down we have plenty at the shop to go else ware.
