Nice video - learned the hard way on my very first machine early 70's in Islamabad, Pakistan. Looking at the spring all coiled up with a broken end, Not a total idiot I realized this could come out all at once, so I had a pliers and piece of wood and thought I'd inch it out. Next thing I knew the pliers slipped and out came the spring, had A marble floor in the kitchen - it bounced all over the place, cut through the tip of my boot and nrrowly missed my dog who was observing.

Hopefully NOW WE ALL KNOW. :o
