While it's pretty common to find 2 minute announced cylinders, and the early 4 minute wax Amberols were announced, I am only aware of 2 Blue Amberols that are announced:
1560 Arthur Collins - Preacher and the Bear (some takes but not all)
28161 Florencio Constantino - Celeste Aida
I have seen one reference on the web that says there were actually 4, but I have never been able to verify more than these 2.
Does anyone have additional information?
Are there more than 2 announced Blue Amberols?

All of the announced copies of 1560 I have and have seen are later beveled edge issues. I read someplace once that the reason the announced take was used was because the original BA master (mould?) had become damaged and Collins wasn't available to re-record it, so Edison reused the older take, which is my personal favorite one.52089 wrote: 1560 Arthur Collins - Preacher and the Bear (some takes but not all)
Has anyone seen flat edge issues of this one announced?
Just curious, since we're on the subject!
And, no, I'm not aware of more than the two mentioned above.

And that includes mine as well. Beveled edge, take 2, mould 62. I've seen flat tops with much higher take numbers, so I wonder if they re-started the take numbers for this title when they reissued this on beveled edge?OrthoSean wrote:All of the announced copies of 1560 I have and have seen are later beveled edge issues.52089 wrote: 1560 Arthur Collins - Preacher and the Bear (some takes but not all)
On a side note, I once emailed an ebay seller about a copy of this and politely asked how many dots there were after the word "Pat'd" on the rim. His response was, "Who the hell cares?" Obviously I did, and obviously I didn't bid!

The three Constantino records, 28140, 28150 and 28161 are all announced. Apparently Constantino insisted on making his own announcements on the original wax Grand Opera Amberols.

That's really interesting, Dulcetto, for us Edison geeks. I was not previously aware that any of the 23000 series British Blue Amberols were announced. This one, 23330, is taken from US wax Amberol No.13 but I wonder why the announcement wasn't erased, as they were on other Blue Amberol re-issue of early wax Amberols? Another of those Edison inconsistencies!

Weren't the first 50 wax Amberols all announced? If it was taken from the original mold like "Preacher And The Bear" was, I can't imagine a way they could have erased the announcement.

"Home Sweet Home The World Over" (BA 1600 ) is kinda-sorta announced: Ed Meeker gives the title & then "as played in Germany" .... "Italy" ....."in Spain" ... etc

Yes, my announced copy of "Preacher and the Bear" has a flat title edge. I just looked at it to verify.OrthoSean wrote:Has anyone seen flat edge issues of this one announced?52089 wrote: 1560 Arthur Collins - Preacher and the Bear (some takes but not all)

That is the same as my Pathé sapphire ball disc, so I'd say it was part of the performance.Edisone wrote:"Home Sweet Home The World Over" (BA 1600 ) is kinda-sorta announced: Ed Meeker gives the title & then "as played in Germany" .... "Italy" ....."in Spain" ... etc
