"If You Knew Susie" on Edison Disc from 1925. HOT!!!

Whenever someone comments on the poor quality, bad repertoire of Edison discs, often only having listened to some scratched up sappy heart songs with an unrestored reproducer, I like to put on one like this, acoustic by the way. Enjoy! :D

I just happened to be watching the Turner Classic Movie network today when they were showing the Florenz Ziegfeld story with William Powell et al. There was a cameo appearance in that movie by Eddie Cantor in blackface, mugging and gesturing his way through "Susie." It's hard to believe that this kind of thing passed for popular entertainment back then, but OTOH today's pop stuff is ever so much worse. I wonder if future generations will regard today's pop as "quaint" in the same way that we today view stuff from the '20s?

NICE! This made my day. As far as the previous comment on today's "artists", my girlfriend was watching the Grammy's the other day and I have to say I have no idea who 90% of the people are. At least in the 20's there was such a thing as vocal training and no such thing as "autotune".
