I am looking for advice on how to properly package DD records so I can mail them to a friend. It would be nice if they arrived in the same condition that they leave here.

Get some pizza cardboard, and bubble wrap each disk, and separate each disc by pizza rounds, tape the stack together put bubble wrap on the bottom and top of the stack, and for extra protection cut a strip of cardboard to tape around the edge of the disk. Put it in the middle of a box with at least 3" of packing like wadded newspapers on all 4 sides.

Dave, I mailed 40 of these to a fellow member, across country, and they arrived safe. As we all know, they are heavy. These were about 45 lbs.. What I did for that quantity was to triple box it and send it media mail.
First protect the record surface by slipping a sheet of paper between each one. I wrapped those in two groups of 20 with the heavy paper from a grocery bag, tightly taping them with packing tape. Placed the bundled units into a sturdy box, tightly, with crumpled newspaper to keep them from moving and sealed it. Then it went into the other sturdy boxes with plenty of packing peanuts. Finally, to prevent the outer box blowing a seam, tape the edges of the box and run the tape around the middle too.
They could drop it and roll it to their door safely.
OCD-ly yours,
James.

I certainly appreciate the good advice and the courtesy with which both were delivered. I will take both into consideration and will hope for the best when I actually get around to shipping these.
