Sometime in the Diamond Disc era, there was a DD release (paper label?) of a novelty tune, dance-band with vocals, whose melody was a dead-ringer for the 1940's Spike Jones parody "Der Fuehrer's Face"...
The words of this ditty went along the lines of the boyfriend bringing a little gift to his sweetheart each night, and getting a token of her affection in return. As the size / expense of the gifts increase, so does the suitor's "return" in his investment...

The band was one of the stock Edison groups, such as Irving Kaufman, etc.
Can anybody put a name to this one ?
Is there an on-line listing of the Edison DD catalog ?
Thanks !
