Razors In The Air / Harry C. Browne & Peerless Quartette

Post by Wolfe »

Prompted by another posting of a Harry Browne song, and to add to the repertoire of 'coon' songs here, a 1920 recording of this tune...

Henry Burr is ostensibly not on this record despite the fact that he is the lead singer of the Peerless Quartet.

Now, if Burr (Irving Gillette on Edison records) had been the lead singer on an Edison release of the song, the rim of the Blue Amberol just might have read, "Gillette, razors in the air."

That never occured to me, how funny.

I do believe that Burr is on this, something that sounds like his voice pops out in places, especially on the "hoe the corn" refrain.
