Late Victor Spearpoint Horn?

Post by Zwebie »

I've seen Early Schoolhouse machines with spear point horns which were interchangeable with other Victor open horn machines. I've seen later Schoolhouse machines with the smooth horns with large fitting on the small end, which will only fit the Schoolhouse elbow. But, I have never seen a Victor spear point horn with the large fitting on the small end!

Was this a transition horn before the smooth was produced?
Was this a spear point horn for a Late Late Victor V?
Interesting how the veneer comes together before going into the fitting, unlike a "normal" spear point.

You may want to read "USlakeside's" post "Late Victor Horn machines with Victrola Parts". You will see a late Vic.3 and the later horns have a large button for locking "ON TOP OF" the late Victor slip elbow with the decal facing on the left side (facing the machine). There was a spear tip on the early "school" model also. However, the decal is on the right side (facing the machine).

The button on the collar is the same flat style as my Victor III petal horn. And the decal would seem to be in a similar place. Maybe I should upgrade my Vic III :)

Would this fit a Vic II or too big?
