Hello,
I was surfing craigslist Seattle and Portland area and was shocked to see how many Edison Diamond Disc player are on the market. You could fill up a spare garage with this lot!! have a look at some of the pictures, there are 9 different machines.

The second and ninth on your list are ones that I mentioned in the Trader section. The H-19 has two reproducers (one Edison and one needle cut) and each machine is $200. Jerry

Those are some nice machines! Its strange why so many Edison Disc machines are for sale, especially with those machines looking so nice. Again, I think it could be that the records are not as common, and the stylus go bad and owners have no idea on replacing them etc.

A guy called me a few weeks ago and has a Edison 250 and said he does not understand where the needles go? I inquired further and he found a bag of steel needles and thought they go into the Edison reproducer. I did the whole Edison spiel on not playing Edison records with steel needles etc.

He called me back, and said the machine plays good with the thick records.

Most of those machines are pretty common and not worth the seller's asking prices, typically $500 and up. Where was the ad for the Schubert (picture 8)?

The reason so many Edison Disc machine are for sale in the Pacific Northwest is obvious. People in that region have settled for nothing but the best since the early years of the 20th century. Hence a disproportionate number of Edison machines turn up there today. I'm sure JerryB would confirm.

I generally come to Union almost empty so I could pick up some of these and spread the wealth across the country. What a great  . Jerry

52089 - I went and saw the Shubert in person last week. It sounds fantastic - never heard one before and was blown away! The cabinet is rough. Much rougher that shown in the photos. She had a few nice records but those too were rough so I decided to pass. Enough projects in the shop that I will never get to.

I have her contact info if you are interested.

It's the same here in Florida right now.
A quick look at Craigslist a few weeks ago
turned up a whole mess of Edison DD machines.

Almost went and looked at the London Upright
LU37 that is about 80 miles away. He was asking
$175 for it, and willing to negotiate. But so
far I have not even gone to look, because since
I asked here, I found out that the LU37 has a
small horn and it sounds rather tinny.

So, per the advice I have gotten from all of
you wonderful and knowledgeable people here,
I am holding out for a C19, or a C250.

I could theoretically take advantage of the
availability of those west-coast machines
because my summer place is in central Illinois
and I am planning on making it to Union.
My place is about 3 hours from Union.
And....I have an empty station wagon! :)
