Heineman Fibre Gears

The Heinemann Motors stamped "Motor of Quality" or OKEH have the fibre spindle gear which engages with the governor worm gear. This particular gear always seems to be worn in my experience, I have yet to find one of these motors which has a decent gear. My brother, which operates a small machine shop has been interested in making one of these gears for small quantity production, he has made one in brass and now will be sending to me for testing in the machine?

Any thoughts on brass instead of fibre? I would be interested maybe recreating one myself with a resin.
