You have my attention, Alex! Is there a similar street of houses to the south/southwest of St. George's? (I like the name!) Is this in Newcastle?

Thanks - -

George P.

i am not too sure
however, apparently around my school site used to be a large field before it was built, and my school seems to be in a similar position to the camera

I'm placing my bet on Chichester Cathedral in Chichester.

Anderson, I think it's Chichester also. I think it's from another park. I found row houses with the same shape and chimneys. I could not take a pic. However, it is from a different direction to the park you show. George, go on line and Google Chichester. You will see period pics of the steeple and see it looks just like your pic.

Thanks for all the help, fellows. I must admit you guys have my head spinning a little. Chichester Cathedral looks to have right shape and the town layout would be workable to having been the site of the original photo. But Tynemouth also has a properly-shaped steeple and now that I look at the original photo, it seems to look as though it's by the beach. That would help explain the fog/mist while the sun is shining as well (although I learned years ago that "if the sun don't come you get a tan from standing in the English rain...").

What do you think of this?

st georges church is as close to the beach as you can get!, ive been looking at the internet and apparently tynemouth was bombed quite a bit in the war so it could have changed the layout around it

I've been looking for an old image of St. George's Church taken from the same angle, but so far no luck. However, the lay of the land is certainly conducive to being Tynemouth. Here are a couple of other shots -- one from far, far south (with the Rockpool in foreground), and the other an aerial shot from the north...

I see a footpath in the background. So, I don't see it has beach. Also, there is no one in "beach" attire. What I do see are people dressed in their "Sunday" best. BTW George, maybe it would be better to post the "whole" photo for us to study??....

I'm not sure you guys have got it yet. There are a lot of pointy topped churches on this side of the pond... :?
