Post by Zwebie »

Appears to be an original Idelia Elbow for a cygnet horn for sale on Ebay, (not mine):

It sold for 699.17. I thought it would go for more.

Is the little bit of antique copper/bronze/whatever on the fastening band what makes it worth such an absurd price? The door hardware in my cheapo 1907 house is all the same black/coppery stuff.

Yes, the little oxidized bronze band makes that elbow unique to an Idealia. Edison used the same elbow for the #10 and #11 Cygnet horns. In the States they are commonly found in black but occasionally in wood grained oak and even more rarely in wood grained mahogany. Jerry
