Can Someone Identify This Location?

as to the row of houses, the small building in the foreground is a small hut for the bowling ground and still there, the larger building in the background are not houses, that is infact the tynemouth plaza hotel, it was a magnificent building and really added a magnificent look to tynemouth, it was there for many, many years this was destroyed by fire on the 10th of february 1996, and subsequently demolished...

I see a footpath in the background. So, I don't see it has beach. Also, there is no one in "beach" attire. What I do see are people dressed in their "Sunday" best. BTW George, maybe it would be better to post the "whole" photo for us to study??... .

At the time this picture was taken there was no concept of casual wear as we understand it, at least in Britain. Everyone dressed in their "Sunday Best" for an outing, including at the seaside and even on the beach, as many old postcards of the period testify.

Only those who went sea bathing would have worn a swimsuit, as sunbathing was almost unknown. Ladies in particular were careful to maintain a pale complexion, and a suntan would have been considered deeply unfashionable.
