If medals were awarded in this hobby, Anil would certainly win this year's Phonographic Gold Medal of Honor for this remarkable save. It was a huge gamble, but ultimately successful. And regardless of outcome, the mere attempt was a noble effort.
It's very unfortunate that the horn went elsewhere, but of all the parts in the assortment, that is the easiest to recreate. The horn elbow would have been far more of a challenge. I hope an original does turn up, but if not I'm sure a good metalworker could reproduce that easily, and woodgraining is also not a problem.
A fine, rare machine saved from the brink of a horrifically misguided fate. We can all applaud that!
