Rocky,

Perhaps—although I’m not sure where they are offering that service (if anywhere). I think the TMF Graphics Workshop will be offering an ‘Acorns for Images’ program, sponsored by the MordEth Photoshop Foundation.
You have done a tremendous job in revamping the board! It looks great and the color scheme is very easy on the eyes.
I was just glad that I finally fixed the font color selector that appears next to the post section. Ideally, though, I plan on removing it and placing something with better functionality under the ‘Smilies’.

I’ll keep everyone posted.

How is the message text font size?

David,

Right now I'm at work where I use Internet Explorer (for Windows) and my screen looks pretty much like your IE screenshot except that the bold fonts seem a little less bold on my computor.

Will have a look at the Safari version when I get home to my Mac.

It looked bigger yesterday, or is that just my imagination? It looks a little small on my 19" computer screen, but my nickname isn't Eagle Eye Bart ;)

It's a "click" bigger on my Mac than I'm used to seeing, but that's easily resolved with a keystroke (Apple key + minus key). Not a problem, really, either way. Board looks super terrific, and what's even better is that it's fully functional for me, and I hope for everyone.

Checked with Safari now and what I see on my browser is identical to David's screenshots.

However: the new board theme seems to have affected the "posting page". Here all the "buttons" and the text on them look larger than before.

Fredrik,

Windows does not render fonts as well as Mac OS, in my opinion; they seem a lot more spidery to me. However, the Windows version of Safari eschews Windows font rendering to render more like it does on Mac OS X. The biggest concern that should now be fixed on IE is that anyone who is still using IE6 (e.g. at work; anyone who has a choice should upgrade to a better browser) should now see the transparent PNG graphics displayed correctly; here I was able to include the JavaScript to fix this Internet Explorer failing.

It’s going to look different, as you commented later. Although I have tested in quite a few browsers to make it as consistent as possible. ;)

Bart,

We have bumped the font sizes in either direction to try to make it comfortable for everyone. Personally, I think that the text is a bit big, but I tend to favor smaller text than everyone I know. I was primarily using Rocky as a yardstick to measure font size against.

Please note that if you are using Firefox you can hold down Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) and press + or - keys (next to 0, in the row of numbers below the Function keys) to enlarge or reduce the content of your browser window. Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) in conjunction with 0 will reset it to the default size.

Eventually I plan on coming up with a browser-independent method of including this functionality on the page, so that users can change their font sizes with just the page itself, but I do not know how long it will take me to get there.

I’m really glad that everyone seems to be pleased with my work so far.

Glad to hear this. I still need to post Mac screen captures, but I keep tweaking things, instead. ;)

How are they now? I lowered them in size somewhat.

There’s still a lot of fine-tuning to be done, so if something does not look quite right to you (with the exception of all of the images—e.g. for post reply, or the circles, etc.—I haven’t gotten to those yet), please let me know.

It may take me a while to get everything where I would like it, but I plan to help John provide the nicest-looking and best-featured phonograph board possible.
