Edison DD London Model

$175 seems a bit low for this CL listing in my area. Full of DD's and a Kentone attachment??. Not mine and the seller claims the cabinet needs some fixing of the finish.

The cabinets on the London models are cheaply maade and do not compare to the Chippendales, Sheratons, etc. The London horn is noticeably smaller. Also, the Londons have no above-bedplate speed control knob or mute ball. When they came out, they were intended to be budget machines to sell at or around $100, compared to the other models that sold for $250 or more.

I would recommend virtually any other cabinet Edison over any of the Londons.

With a lack luster machine like this the discs in the cabinet could be the deciding factor. If the cabinet is full of white label dance records and the reproducer is in good shape I'd think about it.

I would agree that the London models are probably the most uninspiring in the line. They came out relatively late so there's always the possiblity there are some treasures among the records. Otherwise, to me the machine itself would be a pass even at a much further reduced price.

yes Sir I have to agree with you on this, many many machines sound different. It does all depend on how
the inside horn was put togather. each one can sound as different as the next

Yes nit is a nice machine I wish i had a big OL Farm with really nice out buildings i make a special one just for phonographs

I bought my BC-34 for $125 and it did not come with all that extra stuff, so I don't think $150 is much too high. Depending on how much finish work is really needed I would probably offer $100 or 120 and haggle from there. If there is a big problem obviously more on the lower side. Of course, I'm not into the really big machines anyway...
