Found this picture and I know the horn is wrong but hard to tell about the machine. What do you think?

Looks like a legit late model Vic V to me. Something doesn't look quite right about the very based of the cabinet, but it could be just the clarity of the photo, or my aging eyes. (and of course, the wrong horn)

somethings wrong with the cabinet from what I see. Need more pic's for a definitive answer, especially the back mount area.

If I'm not mistaken a back mount machine like that should have a brass plate. Those aluminum plates are from the 20's.

Here's what I can see wrong -

1) The base moulding is flat around the edges where it should be rounded / beveled.
2) The turntable appears to be 10 inch and there is felt / flocking on the edge
3) We know about the horn
4) The brake shown on the LH side is completely a non-Victor product.

My vote says Frankenphone.

If there were other / better photos, I think we might even be able to confirm what I suspect, an entirely homemade case.

Here's a picture of the back bracket. The ID plate says V-III 51617. What machine did the back bracket come off of? Could this be one of the late Vic III's that they used some victrola parts on?

That looks like a correct late style Victor bracket there, but no pinstriping? My Victor II has one like that with a slip in elbow. As for the data plate saying V-III, it may be the plate off a late Victor III, it would be correct for a late model like that, but that cabinet still looks fishy to me...

It's so hard to tell from the pictures what the cabinet actually looks like. If it's actually a late III it is missing some of the pieces on the corner posts.
