Victor M Brought Back From the Brink

Recently obtained a Victor M in pretty rough shape (had a pretty quite motor which was nice). A little cleaning, 2 ½ new corner columns, some glueing, staining, shellac, buffing, and finally something I won't be in trouble for having in the house let alone around the house. Below before and after pictures. I was a little skeptical but I think the results are reasonable given the beginning state. Temporarily borrowing a tone arm from another machine but plan to have the worn out tone arm re-plated at some point. Yes is the same machine!

I never tire of seeing wonderful old machines brought back to life again in a way that honors the original as yours does.

Yes, the serial number plate was stripped, painted, scrapped, and the exposed surface replated by another collector in my area. Felt the original was simply to far gone. If had been somewhat better would have left it alone as I tend to not do anything not absolutely called for as I too preper original if at all possible. There is a repo crack in the picture as the original was long gone.

I applied the shellac using cotton pads, buffed using 0000 steel wool, and also used terry cloth towels. Two coats in this case followed by paste wax.

Nothing else was replated but as noted in my original post I have temp tone arm and will have the original one replated at some point.
