Date for my Edison Standard

I have a 2 speed Standard.
The serial number is S30 51 42.
The is no model number on the plate. (A,B,C etc.) I know it is not an A type as the speed regulator is under the plate.
Last actual patent date is 1903, then it says other patents pending.
As a possessor of this machine, I admit to the validity of these patents.

Howard,

Your Standard left the factory about May 1906. It is a Model B, and should have the banner decal on the front of the cabinet ("Edison Standard Phonograph"). Your machine was modified (the company used the term "Amberolized") after 1908 to play 4 minute records in addition to 2 minute.

Mine has the banner decal. When was the change to the simpler script decal?

The change to the script cabinet decal was announced in the September 1906 issue of The Edison Phonograph Monthly.

Reading the title of this thread, all that comes to mind is how lonely the poor little machine must be.
If it cannot get a date, perhaps one of us could fix it up with a nice Victrola.

The Standard is by no means lonely, it has several companions.
I am slowly cleaning up my collection. It has been hidden away too long.

I'm glad to hear of it. We wouldn't want it to be tempted into a "week-end pick-up", like Mr. Estott's poor weak sister Silvertone, which is hopefully far too old to get "in trouble", though she really is a "looker" for all of her age.
