I was going to look at it myself, but decided I didn't need 2 of them, especially after another recent large purchase. It has a relatively low serial number. Possible broken back bracket, but it's only $200.

Defiantly a broken back bracket, the reproducer doesn’t look correct either. The green leather on the turntable looks a little worn. The albums have seen better days, but then again they are exposed all the time. I love the low serial number, especially when you consider that victor started at 500. I have an 8-35X and I love it, they sound every bit as good as a credenza.
An easy machine to restore to its former glory and at that price you can’t really go wrong.

I picked it up last night, thanks to HMV's post. It has some veneer issues on the left top section and a few minor finish elsewhere. Reproducer is definitely wrong but that's all I know so far. It's still in the back of my van so I haven't really been able to look it over well. I ended up paying $180.00 for it. More later.

Nice buy! The albums are a bit beat but at least you've got some.

Jim, glad you were able to grab it! They are great machines and I haven't regretted buying mine (for a lot more than you paid, I might add) for a moment. Post some photos when you have it cleaned up.phonojim wrote:I picked it up last night, thanks to HMV's post. It has some veneer issues on the left top section and a few minor finish elsewhere. I do need a back bracket. Who is making/selling them these days? BTW: one thing I'm looking forward to is being able to do sound tests between this and my VV 8-30. Should be interesting: large wood vs. large metal re-entrent horn.

Ron Sitko should have them, also JAS Antiques on ebay.phonojim wrote:I do need a back bracket. Who is making/selling them these days? BTW: one thing I'm looking forward to is being able to do sound tests between this and my VV 8-30. Should be interesting: large wood vs. large metal re-entrent horn.

Jim,
Very nice pick up.
I'd like to find one myself some day.
You may be pleasantly surprised with the metal horn's ability to fill the room.
I say this because I am lucky enough to own two Credenzas (a 2-door and 4-door), an 8-12, and an 8-7.
To me, the 8-7 with metal horn sounds every bit as good as the others.
Best of luck,
Gene
