Obscure Edison electric?

Post by marcapra »

I just bought what I think is a rare and obscure Edison electric DD. It is 52127 issued in Dec. 1927 with The Record Boys singing Mock the Mocking Bird and Try to Behave Mr. Moon. It appears to be in near mint condition. I asked a prominent expert in this area if he had heard of The Record Boys or Try to Behave Mr. Moon. Even though he knows most 20's songs by heart, he couldn't place these performers or the song! Has anyone out heard it before?

My DD Excel spreadsheet shows The Record Boys as Frank Kamplain, Tom Ford and Lew Cobey. 52127 was their only DD. Lew Cobey was on one other DD, 50764, and I see no other recordings by Tom Ford. Frank Kamplain however, recorded several DD’s including 52409, 52481, 51850 and 50880.

Thanks Rod! I guess the Record Boys were a one no-hit wonder. I am anxious to hear this record.
