Here's a little factoid from the following link:

During the '20s and '30s, he used over 100 pseudonyms to record over 5,000 78 rpm singles for a variety of labels; among the names he adopted were Frank Evans, Vernon Dale, Tobe Little, Bob White, Hugh Lattimer, Sid Turner, and Al Craver.

As a member of The Arkansas Trio, he was rather entertaining on Boll Weevil Blues for Edison. However, mostly I find his delivery while singing rather heavy on characterization; his rendering of Wreck Of The Old 97 is hideous. It's difficult for me to listen to most of his recordings and am often reminded of Joe Bussard's pet name for him: Vermin Dogfart.

well having recorded over 5,000 records, he must have been doing something right. I guess, a little bit like the Hawaiian records of the time, very popular then but much less so now with many people.

To each his own, I guess. I've always liked Vernon Dalhart, and seek his recordings. I find him very entertaining and enjoyable.

A few of years ago, a friend and I were browsing through some of his recent acquisitions. One of them, on a dime store label, was a country song. The name of the artist looked most likely to be a pseudonym. So we played the record and it sounded like Dalhart. OK, no surprise there but something seemed a little off, so we got the pseudonym book out and very much to our surprise, it was Irving Kaufman...imitating Dalhart!
