About four years ago, I took this Victrola 230 out of a house 7 miles from here. At the time, I thought I might talk the missus into letting me place this lovely Victrola upstairs somewhere. It took 4 years, but reality is finally setting in...!

This is a Victrola 230 in mahogany, introduced in 1922 as the most expensive regular-production Victrola in the line ($375.00). You can read all about it here:

This example is No.2758, and it has been well cared-for over the past 90 years. Total production of this model was only 3.395 spring-driven models. I think any talking machine that was manufactured in numbers that small can certainly be considered "rare." This one has a very nice original finish (it was in the living room when I found it), plus ALL EIGHT SPECIAL ORIGINAL ALBUMS. It plays fine - all I've done is lubricate the motor and dust it off. As you can see in the photo below, someone shifted the crank escutcheon to a vertical position, but that's an easy fix. The only other problem I can find is that the small limit hooks on the lower hinges of the sound doors are unhooked (but NOT broken). This doesn't affect their function - it just means that the doors can be opened very wide. Someone may have done this deliberately.
As I mentioned above I didn't intend to sell this beautiful machine, but someone really ought to have the 230 who will appreciate it. Obviously, I can't ship this, but I can offer free delivery to Union in June or to Wayne in October. The price is $395.
I apologize for the poor photos. If anyone would like additional photos of any part of the machine, just let me know.
