You good folks know how loopy I am over paper stuff: here's a recent find, the Everyplay brochure from 1921. It's rather like Needle 101 and it's quite informative. Here t'is. I'm sold, and as they point out there are " No old needles lying around for children to put in their mouths or get into their bare feet."

Re: Everplay Needle Brochure
Nice find JRT. I started to collect Everplay items over the years. I have never found a piece with Canadian stamping. I'm sure they were sold up here too....??.Lenoirstreetguy wrote:You good folks know how loopy I am over paper stuff: here's a recent find, the Everyplay brochure from 1921. Hmmm... they say "The Everplay needle will outlast your phonograph" yet according to them it "will last twenty years with average playing". I guess they didn't expect phonographs to last more than 20 years back then, yet we are still enjoying them 100 years later.

Re: Everplay Needle Brochure
Well, I can certainly attest to the life of an Everplay. I picked up a box of them on eBay back when you could still get things reasonably on a regular basis. I've been using the same one in my 10-50 for about 8 years now regularly. Every few weeks or so depending on how much it gets played, you feed out a teeny bit more "point" and you're good to go for another 75 or more plays before doing so again. It shows no sign of running out of wire anytime soon. It's kind to records and it sounds about what a half tone steel needle sounds like, which is perfect to my ears for a machine like the 10-50. I've always wondered why there aren't more of them around.

More importantly, why hasn't someone figured out how to reproduce them? It would seem like an absolute must for jukeboxes and automatic Victrolas.OrthoSean wrote:I've always wondered why there aren't more of them around.

Jim, did you get the envelope as well??. If so, is it like the one on the right in my first pic I posted??. This envelope contained a sample needle and flyer. I looked over some of my packets again and there is one stamped (price & dealer) in Winnipeg.Lenoirstreetguy wrote:I suspect they were sold up here: I saaw one in a box of flea market junk years ago and didn't realize what it was! I have posted these before a long time ago but here are some close up pictures of an everplay needle and also of one next to a medium tone steel needle for comparison.
Thanks for that scan of the leaflet Jim - it makes very interesting reading.
