That's an impossible question to answer without knowing the condition, and more details such as originality. Your best bet at an answer would be to post some good photos and an accurate description. Jerry Blais

Steve, I'm new to this so I have no idea of prices, it seems so hard to get an idea of what any machine is worth. It's like a secret society of pricing. I just don't want to get ripped off when I buy my first machine.

Re: Zon-O-Phone
There's no "secret society of pricing," but buying antique phonographs isn't like shopping at Wal-Mart. The price of any given machine will vary depending on where you buy it, who's selling it, and who's shipping it. The seller of your pictured Zonophone has a good record for quality merchandise. However, his merchandise usually sells for top retail - - sometimes it sells for astronomical prices. If online auctions are your only venue to buy, you should be prepared to often pay too much, or receive something less than described and pictured. The only way to avoid this online is to know what you're doing or deal with a reputable dealer. Again, the seller of the Zonophone deals in quality. And you get what you pay for.
Attending a phonograph show will allow you to examine hundreds of machines in person, compare them, and talk to dealers. No shipping charges, and no surprises when you get home (provided you examine it carefully at the show). There's a huge phonograph show coming up in Union Illinois on June 7-9. If you can possibly make it, it will be well worth your while. There's a recent thread here about the show.
Good luck!

Thanks George, I wish I could go to that show but I'm in Edmonton Canada, and there isn't a lot of that around here. Basically I guess I thought someone could say, oh that machine is worth between $1200 to $2000 just to give me an idea, or, that machine is way over priced and is worth about $700, in that range. I guess it's difficult to assess phonographs in general.

I think there is dealer in Calgary. I will see if I can find his info. There was another very big collector/dealer very close to you. A very dear friend. However, he has retired from the hobby and his collection went to a museum. The value of any machine is.....what is agreed by both the buyer & seller. There is no set "worth".Photoj wrote:Thanks George, I wish I could go to that show but I'm in Edmonton Canada, and there isn't a lot of that around here.
