A complete, original, good working order, outer horn phonograph. preferably a Victor, Columbia, Zon-O-Phone or Pathéphone.

Would you like an unsolicited recommendation? I would choose a Victor model, such as the Victor III. They are common enough to be relatively affordable and I believe are the best-made of that group and ideal as a first machine. As an old ad once said, "Ask the man that owns one".

Thanks, now if I can just find one, and one that's not restored. It's been a 5 year hunt for the right machine, I'm getting impatient with this hunt. All I want is a good original machine, so I can sit and enjoy listening to some old 78s, while smoking a cigar and having a scotch, and take in the beauty of the machine, I'm not looking to own every machine that existed throughout history.

Ah sit back and have a good cigar and chatting with my buddy Johnny Walker - my evening ritual as well. Happy hunting
