I need feedback on an Ebay seller

Post by Le0 »

Hi, I was wondering if someone has feedback for "neelam" on Ebay.
Were the descriptions accurate? No hidden flaws? Trustworthy or just another crook?
I've had some very disappointing purchases on Ebay from people selling lots of phono stuff with 99+% good feedback so I'm really skeptical. I don't rely on Ebay feedback because IMHO people are afraid to leave mild feedback even if the seller deserves so.

thanks :)

PS. don't think I'm harsh, I just expect items in relatively good nick with accurate descriptions and no hidden flaws. I also think positive feedback isn't something you have to take for granted; you have to deserve it.
Machines I own: Edison Standard A, suitcase Home, Home A, Triumph A & B, Columbia type BS, Standard Model A, Victor E, IV & V, Pathéphone No.4

Leo, first because many member's on our forum are also sellers on Ebay....most of us do not discuss their business unless there are blatant issues. You may want to do a forum search on "neelam" as there have been threads posted already.
Hope that helps.

Just curious, why would you need "feedback" here when there are 3,117 feedback comments already posted on eBay? Surely there is pertinent information there.
And, as a matter of note, eBay sellers cannot leave negative feedback against buyers. These days, IMO, it s the sellers who have more to fear than buyers, who can be protected by return policies, eBay, PayPal and their credit card companies, and the potential threat of leaving negative feedback against the seller.
There are potential problems in any transaction, on or off-eBay. I have recently purchased an item through the Yankee Trader section of ths forum and got screwed royally. If it had been an eBay purchase, I would have been protected all around. Instead, I have a $400 useless item.

Once upon a time buyers might have been reluctant to leave negative feedback for a seller, fearing negative feedback retaliation from the seller. However eBay eliminated a seller's ability to leave negative feedback for a buyer several years ago.

The matter was duly reported in the Yankee Trader section a few months ago.

"The matter was duly reported in the Yankee Trader section a few months ago."

If you are referring to the incident with the wood Sonora tone arm, you never posted the name of the offender, as best I can see.

Anybody who needs specifics on the Sonora tone arm matter can contact me by direct email: [email protected] - But the whole point of my mentioning that episode in this thread was to opine on how eBay is not the sole province of misrepresentation and fraud.
