At the Union show I picked up 25 real nice early black wax Edison cylinders (1902). One of them #8192 The Fifer of the Old Drum Corp is in its original box and top, as most of them were. The top was very unusual to me. In the center is the logo of the Empire Paper Tube and Box Co of New Your. I have never seen an Edison box with a logo of another company on it, has anyone else?

Has anyone seen this cylinder box top before?

Yes, but usually stamped on the bottom cap. Perhaps yours is actually the bottom that someone switched?

Yes, stamped on the bottom of Blue Amberol cartons. It must have been cheaper for Edison to buy them ready-made from an established manufacturer than to tool up and produce them from scratch.
