Hi all,
Does anyone recognize the cabinet (maker, etc.)? Also it appears that the push buttons in the middle are disarranged. Are those mechanisms difficult to repair?

I cannot speak for the cabinet itself (especially with the doors open), but the record storage button system I have seen several times in various cabinets and phonographs... I wonder if it was a retrofit option?FloridaClay wrote:Hi all,

Looks like the same push-button system that Columbia used on many of their stand up machines.

From what I've seen the buttons move a lever that pushes the record out from the back. If there is an access panel in the back it may not be hard to fix.

Mystery solved. The cabinet is the remnants of a golden oak Columbia Type f-2 floor model. Who knows how many years ago (the current owners had bought it that way from an antique shop about 25 years ago) somebody sawed it in two, removing the top half and then moving the lid and top trim down to make a top for the remaining half. Part of the legs was sawn off too in order to make it lamp table height.
The record ejector storage system is original to the piece, by the way.
Someone went to a great deal of trouble and it really looks very good with no clues to its origins to an untrained eye, that is until you open the lid and see the crudeness of the make shift compartment under it and the F-2 decal on the inside of the lid.
All a little creepy, but I bought it anyhow. It was cheap and will make a handsome table for one of my oak table-top machines until something better comes along.

If you remove the lid and put a flat top on it you'll have a good stand (if a bit low) for a table model.
