Miniola VV-50 update:
I made the internal horn today, it is slightly shorter than scale to ensure enough space for the spring motor.

I am impressed... and am guessing you either are under the age of 40 or have remarkably good vision and steady hands!
How'd you manage to reproduce such a tiny serial number plate?

Thanks.
I took a picture of the plate on my real VV-50, then scaled it down on the PC and printed it out.

In my opinion one of the most impressive "miniature" Phonograph's ever made was the HMV Victrola made for the Queens doll house. It took many experts & countless hours from different fields to pull it all together. Even Barraud was commissioned to paint the "HMV" under the lid. Not to mention the special records & needles made for the machine to play.
There is a thread on our forum that discusses this great piece of sound engineering.
By the way.....have any of our members noticed the very cool and detailed miniatures that are being sold on Ebay out of Spain??. Very nice miniatures of very rare machines

No, but I wouldn't mind a link if you happen to have one handy!gramophone78 wrote:In my opinion one of the most impressive "miniature" Phonograph's ever made was the HMV Victrola made for the Queens doll house. The seller is "vr-42" in Spain. There is only one showing in completed now. There were others and a nice K&R hand wind. Here is the only one that can be seen. No, they are not working models.....

The Queen Mary Dollhouse HMV used needles? I would think it was so small that it would not need multiple needles. Not to mention the special records & needles made for the machine to play.

Re: World's Smallest Phonograph?
I would urge any collector that has not read the making of the Victrola for Queen Mary's doll house to do so. Special size and gauge needle had to be designed in order to play the tiny records (which are in tiny albums) and not create drag. As I wrote before......multiple experts and countless hours were involved.Player-Tone wrote:The Queen Mary Dollhouse HMV used needles? A wonderful read.
