I come to this website to learn, to inform, and to have fun with like-minded people. Hopefully there is room for both serious scholarship and a bit of levity. Let's not get all wound up! [sorry, couldn't resist]

I have a few early long throat Exhibitions. The earliest has a number of 22xx and is probably one of the first Victor marked ones. There was a previous thread on these with an ERJ marked one in the 18xx range (if I remember correctly). I have another on a 1902/03 Monarch with a 26xxx number, but I can't be sure it's original to the machine. I've probably asked this before, but along the lines of Harvey's question does anyone know Victor's system of Letter numbering for the Exhibition after they reached 999999. I would guess it was similar to the stamper codes of letters but I have no real info.
Thanks for your answer. I appreciate it. I have an early Exhibition with a spring loaded needlebar like you see on a Columbia Analyzing. The SN is 38XXX. I just noticed on the early Exhibitions have smaller head screws to hold the back and bezel in place. Has anyone else seen this? I think this is another characteristic of an early Exhibition.

I aggree with you, but there is a time and place. In this forum there are discussions that are funny like crapophones, hack jobs, and the like. What I don't like are certain posters who contribute nothing but meaningless crap that is just as bad as spam. It's a waste of time and ruins the discussion. Good pun, BTW.

I am assuming by this comment that you are referring to my own? In the event you missed it, I did apologize for my comment if it offended you.

I do find your remark somewhat ironic, however, in view of a few of your own comments made over the course of the time you've been on this board.

Outside of extending the olive branch (which I've already done), I'm not certain what you're wanting or expecting...

If you feel you're going to run me out of town on a rail because you feel I have nothing to contribute, that train has already left the stop.

I too come to this website for the same reasons and with all that's going in this world right now, we can all use a good laugh now and then. There really is no need for rudeness. There are every level of collector here and I appreciate all the help and all the knowledge that has been shared with me since I joined. Just remember, everyone of us starts out as a new collector. Even the most knowledgable here were once newbies. Jan.

I dunno, Tink, I thought he was referring to me! But it really doesn't matter; as one of my professors used to say, "We're all entitled to our opinions---no matter how bad they may be!"

Now, let's get busy and give Nat some advice on his spring engagement---oops, too late! He'll just have to wait 'til next year. ;)
