Early Unusual Dark Brown Wax Cylinder Recording ID

A few months ago I acquired a collection of brown and early black wax recordings and in the lot was this unusual dark brown wax cylinder and box. Actually, a number of brown wax were packaged in similar blue-ended boxes but without writing, not to mention the cylinders were distinctly Edison or Columbia blanks. I have since carefully tested the cylinder on the appropriate playback equipment and judging by the announcement, it appears this may be an independent studio recording, however I have been unable to decipher exactly what is said. To note, the announcement is on a separate track from the cornet solo, played, as announced and written on box, by a Mr. Woerhle.

I had a friend bring this to Union, as I was unable to attend, to see if he could show it to Shawn Borri or any other Brown Wax people. He was too caught up in the excitement so he never got around to doing so. Included in the list of unusual traits for this cylinder is the shallow single interior spiral and long sharp bevel on the starting end. While the cylinder is obviously scuffed, it is loud and the solo is at least fairly clear.

Any thoughts?

certainly seems to be a Columbia blank, the big bevel and single spiral. It seems that it was in a well cooked batch of wax, in fact mine have been coming out about the same shade the last 2 weeks. Not sure what company recorded it. The boxes look to be after 1900 though, what is the quality of the recording itself, compared to say a Gold Moulded record as loud or softer, does it sound like a live or tube copied record.

Yesterday I recorded the cylinder on a friend's Type A Graphophone.

I think the announcer-sounds like he's Italian or something- states "Cornet Solo played by Mr.Woerhle .... his new cornet, Boston (?) Record."

I'll let you be the judge, Shawn, about the production quality. In my opinion it sounds like a direct recording.

At the end, soloist seem to say "on my new cornet" then the announcer returns and says something like" Well, if you didn't think it was quite good enough, then we are a bunch of liars to you."

Any ideas?

He has a very French accent I also hear played on my new cornet Boston Record. That is pretty kewel, sound certainly like a Columbia blank and a direct recording with a glass diaphragm,
