Yes or no on this edison DD phonograh?

I'm new to edison phonographs and I've been looking for a while and this is the first I've seen, its a edison A-25:0 and has a cabinet full of records along with it. What's the most you would pay and what's a resonable offer to make? I'm at the antique shop right now! Thank you all - Tyler

An A250 is a nice machine. I would prefer it to be in Oak but would not pass up a Mahogany one if it was close by. It is hard to tell from your pictures if there is much wear or damage to the cabinet finish. looks like the reproducer has some finish loss. Make sure you test out the reproducer to make sure it is working properly. The reproducer stylus can damage easily and cost $100 or more to replace. I think with two drawers full of records and in reasonable shape the machine should be worth around $400.00 There was a time these machines would have brought $750.00 or so but the market is down now and Diamond disc machines seem to be coming out of the woods all the time.

Yes. Turning it right side up is a 1-minute matter, though. It just lifts out of a slot.

the machine plays but it seems like the reproducer does not make good contact with the record, like its not going down low enough, in the back where the motor is i found a box in a edison box, the box contained another reproducer that looked like a convertor reproducer to play regular 78 rpm records, any information on this? the lady wanted $425 for everything, if this is a good price then i might go pick it up tomorrow for my first DD phonograph.

Not a bad deal IMHO, especially if it comes with a good lateral record converter. As to the value of that, or what kind of adjustment the regular reproducer might need nobody could say without a lot more information.

Your pictures are not the greatest. How's the paint on the bedplate? How's the finish? What condition are the records in? If many of them are nice and shiny, no visible scratches, scuffs, damage, and the condition of the machine is average, it seems like a quite reasonable price. Assume right off the bat that the reproducer needs a full rebuild including new diamond. That will set you back more than 100 bucks. The adjustments you are speaking of are not difficult and can be explained. Detailed pics of the A250 in both oak and mahogany on the link below if you are interested.

The bedplate is in pretty good condition, the records are all in good shape for the most part, a little dusty but nothing that cant be cleaned. their are a few records which are warped and cracked but that only apply's to maybe 6 records out of all them.
