Need some victrola VV XI parts

Post by Kryptosmaster »

Hi all. Seems like a great forum. Just joined and posted in the main section.
Need some parts. Any help is appreciated.
I have a floor model 1919-ish victrola VV XI.
Pic of plate attached below.
Watching some stuff on eBay but past forum experiences have shown me that you can usually get better stuff from forum friends at a better price and usually get the RIGHT parts as well!

Need a #2 reproducer complete
Doesn't have to be rebuilt as long as all the parts are there.

Need some tone arm attaching parts:
What I can see from your pictures you may be missing a few inexpensive parts to connect the tonearm to the back bracket. At the bottom of the back bracket should be a large washer with 5 little half round cut-outs. In each of these cut-outs should be a small ball bearing. Add some grease and then insert the tonearm on top of the ball bearings. Through the top hole of the back bracket goes a pointed metal pin, which holds the tonearm in place. This pin is secured with a small screw from the side
Need all those little parts.^^^^^^^

Need a lid key.

Need a screw for the crank escutcheon.

Really want to hear this thing play!

So far that's all I think I need.

From the photo on the other thread, it appears you have one escutcheon screw. Unless you insist on an "original" to replace the missing one, you can probably match the one you have to a stock round-head wood screw from the parts drawer of your well-stocked local hardware store :P Around here there are a number of such to choose from among, and these are preferable to the "big box" guys for almost everything I need in the way of small items like this. Good luck!

Yeah, I figured as a last resort I'd shoot down to Ace hardware for he screw but was hoping someone might be a bit of a hoarder and have a drawer full of old screws off unrestorable units.

Problem with the screws from the hardware store is that those are zinc plated, while the old ones are nickel plated. You would have to remove the zinc plating with sand paper or by soaking in vinegar, otherwise it will stick out like a sore thumb. You can also buy nickel plated screws here http://www.blacksmithbolt.com/.

Good luck

This key is correct and seems to be going for a reasonable price right now ($11.50)-ends tomorrow 7/14/13. Of course, that can change in a heartbeat on eBay.

Thanks. I've actually been watching that one. Wasn't sure if it was a good price or if I could get one here for less.
