Gigli sings "Donna non vidi mai". Taken from an HMV pressing. This is such a great operatic piece which is sung by one of the great singers of the period and I absolutely love it. The transfer just does not do it justice when comparing how it sounds on my HMV 163. BTW If anyone has any info on a recording date for this one I'd be very grateful.
I have this same take on a Romophone CD called, The Century's Greatest Singers In Puccini.
According to their booklet it's from 1926, no month/day given.
I've heard some describe Gigli's voice as 'honeyed.' That aptly describes the sound of his voice here, and with his sheer vocal power probably at it's peak at around this time, you have some prime Gigli on display. Thanks for posting!
