Hello,
You should try and find a gear cover for your machine. Originals do come up for sale on EBay.

I think the machine looks nice as it is now. Is that the Australian version?

I got a little dizzy looking at the photos but it looks like your decal is missing or very weak. Also the striping on the deck looks missing. Has the machine been refinished? A Gregg Cline decal for the cabinet and Cline striping decals would do wonders. Jerry Blais

Your Standard model B looks mostly OK. I would take my time before trying anything very invasive like replacing decals or refinishing. (By the way, Jerry is right: Gregg Cline's decals are the ones to get if you do need repros.) I would simply start with a gentle cleaning using Kotton Klenser or non-pumice Go-Jo. It will leave the finish slightly tacky for a few days. After it hardens up, I'd try some Howard's Feed-n-wax. A gentle cleaning of the bedplate with Fantastik (or 409) sprayed onto a paper towel will remove grime. In all of these processes, go easy and don't overdo it. Remember that it's OK for something that's over 100 years old to display some wear. Let us know how it goes.
Regards,
Martin

We could all give our best advice if we had better photos. Has the case been refinished? Has the deck been repainted? A model B Standard with 2&4 capability is a great little machine and probably the best value and workhorse available. Jerry
