Hello,
I was curious about the turntable felt color of the late Victor II purchase by the friend of bingchen1 and discussed below.

The pictures of the Victor II on eBay show that the turntable felt color is gray. I have a 1909 Victor II (no corner columns, just like this one) whose turntable felt is the same gray color. My machine is unrestored, complete and original, so my question is whether the turntable felt was originally gray, or is it just that the original green felt has faded to this?
The turntable felt shown in the eBay pictures looks original to me, and I would be inclined not to replace it. Are there recommended, gentle ways of cleaning it, perhaps to discover what color the turntable felt should be?
By the way, my name is Mark, and I'm primarily a record collector. Most of my posts have been in the "Music" section for that reason. I only two antique phonographs and have yet to do restoration on either one.
Thanks in advance for the info.

The felt on that Vic.2 is just a badly faded "green". All Victor models of that period came with green felt. Later Orthophonic's had a mustard color felt.
