This will probably cause shock to you. I have been striving for years to make my records and blanks as historically accurate as possible. I know nobody will comment, as you will watch these with blinking disparaging thought. These videos are going to cause gasping to those stogy scholars who say nobody dare be too historically accurate. Tell me what you think! One is my standard replica brown wax blank, and the other a replica of a North American channeled rim in actual metallic soap compound, even sounds original.

Nice work.
Don't despair. Just because there are not many comments does not mean that some of us at least do not follow your work with interest.

Re: Acuurate Replicas of Edison Brown wax and North American
I finally found the charger for my regular camera so hear is some photos. These show a few things, that brown wax indeed has different shades of color depending on how long it is cooked, how much oxygen combined with the compound, how many times it has been reheated. Also a few information on Edison and Columbia blank differences. Columbia blanks and Edison have similar formulation, Columbia brown wax though pre 1900 does not have sodium carbonate, some have coconut oil in place of ceresin some has paraffin, and some have ceresin for the cutting/moisture proof agent. While Edison blanks do have carbonate of soda to aid in soponification, and ceresin wax as the cutting/moisture proof. Usually Columbia blanks are lighter than Edison with a more tan color, while Edison's have a more orange or reddish color, this is due to Edison's using recycled wax, which acts as a catalyst to hold the molecules closer together.

- Columbia on the left has a single start spiral but the same pitch as the Edison blank. The Edison blank has a double spiral core, that starts on opposite sides of the blank.

Here is another nice detailed photo of the new blanks, very close to the real thing, they have very quiet surfaces too. I hope you like them. I have also included a comparison with an original Edison brown wax. These are made exactly to the factory instructions that Mr. Starkton had posted.
