I have a VTLA with a serial number very close to yours and it, too, is missing the VTLA stamp. I would assume that the model and serial number were stamped in separate operations and a batch of plates missed the model stamp. I wonder made it through before it was noticed.

Interesting... Would you mind snapping a picture of your ID plate and posting it here? Is yours a dome top VTLA? I own 4 VTLA's, 3 of which are dome top and 1 is a VV-XX (with "VTLA" designation on the ID plate) and all of mine have the "VTLA" stamp and all are numbered in the 8000's and 9000's which Paul Edie's Victor-Victrola site indicates as being dropped well before (the "VTLA" designation on the ID plate that is) after about serial number 7873. I have a couple of friends with flat top VTLA's which I have examined personally and theirs have the VTLA stamp with numbers in the 1000's and 2000's. It will be interesting to see your ID plate and any other original and untouched VTLA Victor ID plates with missing model number.phonojim wrote:I have a VTLA with a serial number very close to yours and it, too, is missing the VTLA stamp
