Class M Parts Wanted.

Post by gemering »

Is anyone making reproduction governor springs and ball weights for Class M phonographs?
Or, would anyone have an original ball weight?
I am missing one spring/weight and screws to attach.
Also, I would love to find a good quality reproduction speaking tube.
Thank you,
Gene

Class M machines are rather sensitive to any changes in speed equipment, I would keep all the original springs and weights for the governor with the machine, but you need to replace the whole set of weights and springs for the machine to run smoothly. I would call Ron Sitko and see if he can have them made for you, insist the weights and springs are matched accurately! I think Jean Paul Agnard might have speaking tubes, I think Charley Hummel had some originals for sale at Union this year.

The Class M governor springs and weights are the same as on the early Spring Motor motors with the nickel plated spherical weights. The spring from mounting hole to mounting hole is about 2 ⅛" on both. I would search for someone who has a parts motor from an early Spring Motor (they are out there!). The rest of the governor assembly is different.
