Phonograph Light

Post by rgordon939 »

Just picked up a nice Edison A100 that has a small light in the right rear corner of the machine. It has a small on and off lever on it. I have not seen a light of this type and am wondering if anyone has seen one before and has any information about where it was made and by who.

Hi Rich,
I have the same light as yours on my Edison C-250 only it is gold plated to match the rest of the hardware.

The lights are neat. My Victrola 17 has one also.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Now I have another question. The light bulb in my light does not work. The bulk has GE123 or GE128 written on the base. Does anyone know where you can get replacement bulbs or have a working build they are willing to sell?

Thanks

Depending on the battery size....from 1.5 to 9 volt. You can get them on Ebay. It's just a common bulb. The originals were of the old shape. The glass was flat instead of roundish. Model train and car shops still carry them in that form. They are used as headlights and the front train light. The ones in the pic are NOS.

I forgot to mention a very important thing, mine is electric and plugs in a regular household outlet.

Given the gauge of the black cloth covered wire I see in your machine.....I find that hard to believe. The wire would get way too hot at 110-120V.
A GE123 is a 1.5V flashlight bulb.
BTW, I believe your nickel visor is upside down.. ;).

THe light in your Edison A100 is a Universal Record-Lite. There is a good picture of the exact same light with its associated battery, instructions, flyer and box on page 219 of Look for the Dog.
