Need help with door hinges on VV-130

Post by Jerry B. »

I am attempting to disassemble a VV-130 so I can do a nice restoration. It has goofy hinges on all four doors. Is there an easy way to get the doors off and then back on? It's like Victor never intended those doors to be removed.
Thanks, Jerry

It has hidden hinges. Even with the visible screws removed, the doors don't want to come out. It's like Victor did not intend these doors to be removed from the body of the cabinet. I've had dozens of cabinets apart but none like this. Jerry (40+years and still learning!)

Boy, you buy it for a couple hundred and now you want us to take it apart. Did you want us to refinish it for you too...??.....     . 40+ years and still learning.....you got that right. We are all learning something new everyday in this hobby. I for one, would love to see a pic of this type of hinge. I have never seen one.

Hey Jerry,

There should be a small hole visible on all the hinges. You just need to find something small enough to stick in there and push really hard to lower the hinge pin out of the cabinet bushing. You generally only need to do the top of each of the doors, the bottoms will come out freely once the tops are out.

Here's some pictures to go along with my horrible description.

This is a pic of my VV-130 hinge

And here's a similar style hinge from my XIII removed from the door.
