Check Those Old Albums

Post by rodpickett »

Although this is a different vintage than usually discussed here, this might be of interest to those who collect music in general.

Considered one the rarest album covers, a special issue by Capitol Records in 1967 of the Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Band was discovered in Indiana and auctioned on 10 August for $32,500.

This particular album was a tribute by Capitol for the success of the album and features photos of the Capitol executives, rather that the artists. 40 of these were produced.

:?:

It's the same stock cover. And who were the executives tributing?

Only thing Capitol had to do with this album was pressing and distributing it in the U.S.
